The beginning of this site...

This site first started in my old homepage back in December 1997. It was a simple page devoted to my favorite movie of all time. It also contained a few images and a link to this page. Then I got a great idea when I looked through my Poltergeist collectibles, I wanted to share my collection with everyone. A few months later, it became a separate website with a lot of information and it keeps growing every week!

The beginning of the Poltergeist Guru...

It all started back in the summer school of 1984. The teachers would have a "Movie Day" every two weeks. The movie they picked was Poltergeist. As I watched the movie, I was so fascinated that I instantly became a very big fan! All my classmates were awestruck by the movie especially my teacher's daughter, who freaked out during the "Marty tearing his face off" scene. After the movie ended, I realized that I had seen the trailer in 1982. The only parts of the trailer I remembered were the flashing lights from the house, and Dana screaming, "What's happening?!"

In 1986, I wrote a fan letter to Oliver Robins (I got his contact info from a teen magazine) and to Polygram Records (their address "Polygram Records, Inc., 810 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY 10019" was on the soundtrack). Oliver responded and sent me an autographed photo of himself. Polygram records forwarded my letter to MGM Studios and a few weeks before Poltergeist II:the Other Side opened in May 23, 1986, I received an envelope from associate producer Patricia Shaw, who used MGM/UA address as her return address. she sent me a letter, a bumper sticker, and a button promoting Poltergeist II:the Other Side. I was so surprised. And yes! I wore the button to school everyday! The bumper sticker is still new, and protected in an acid-free plastic cover. I didn't throw away the envelope which has a Poltergeist II rubber stamp marking and the address "MGM/UA Entertainment Co., 10202 W. Washington Blvd., Metro-201, Culver City, CA 90230" printed on the left side. I am not sure if this address is still valid, so please send mail at your own risk.

Anyway, my Poltergeist collection has become bigger and better...to see some of the items I own, go to the "Catalogue of Collectibles" page. I am always on the lookout for the items I don't have especially the rare collectibles. I don't think my collection will ever be complete, but one thing will be sure; Poltergeist will always be my favorite movie of all time....
